| Congressmen David Bonior and Jim McDermott, both Vietnam War-era veterans were in Iraq this past week on a fact finding mission, and while in Bagdad Mr. McDermott stated that he was amazed how much the Iraqis are ready to fight house-to-house, and he also warned of the risks young Americans might face going into Iraq which is now teeming with terrorists. While in Baghdad they advised the Iraqui government not to interfere with any planned inspections by the U.N. Republicans here at home criticized the congressmen stating that they sounded like 'spokespersons for the Iraqi government.' McDermott that he was not a pacifist, but he thought he needed to speak up for his country, and that war was not the desired option, that 'it destroyed lives in such a profound way'. He also stated that he did not trust Hussein, but faulted Bush for shifting goals from destruction of weapons of mass destruction to a change of regime. The bozo got real uptight about the Congressman 'calling Mr. Bush a liar', and that this constituted treason. My question is why? If a kettle is black, it will be black if I say it in Australia, Iraq or on U.S. soil. Seems like the bush shifted from disarming Iraq to eliminating Saddam, for the simple reason that Saddam had urged that Bush Sr. should be eliminated after the Gulf War, therefore Bush Jr. wants to eliminate Saddam. |
