Everytime you talk to a republican about the economy, they will tell you that they are against taxes. They define themselves as the 'Fiscally Responsible Party' without mentioning that every republican administration gets the country deeper into the fiscal abyss. People should be able to keep more of their 'hard-earned' money, they espouse.
No one will ever address the fact that all governments within the US are supported by taxes. The government has no other income. But these republicans have no problem to keep piling onto the national debt, which not only increases by the amount of periodic borrowings [currently approaching $9 Trillion], but also by the interest the government pays.
Our Fiscal and Financial Condition Is Worse Than Advertised

Neocons frequently talk of cutting the deficit in half.
So we dig the hole deeper at half the speed?
Why don't we hear 'eliminate the deficit, or - forbid the thought - create a surplus [as in the 'Clinton' year 2000 above]
