Despite claims from the political right and Hannity in particular, the 'Tea Party' is not made up of 40% Democrats and 40% Independents. In a NYT/CBS poll today (4/15/2010), tea party members were polled, and 73% of them consider themselves 'Conservative'.

This video taken by Fox at 4 different locations, including mostly African-American New Orleans, is notable because there are no African Americans visible among the thousands. So it would not be too far fetched to conclude from this video that the Tea Party is made up mostly of racist, right wing zealots. Also anti-Obama signs frequently carried signs depicting hate of Obama.
