5/9/06 My note of 4-17 about Harry Belafounte was not about left or right but simply an example of people who can get media coverage and whom make outrageous statements, which are repeated on the news and the web, without anyone saying the Emperor has no close. By this I mean that People left and right make statements that are wrong misleading or out right lies with few or no one calling them on it. I saw film of Mr. Belafounte making that statement 0n TV at least 3 times and I listen very carefully to what people say and how they say it. His statement was a declarative sentence which made no sense. It is the same as people saying that: The President is a war criminal. That is presented as a statement of fact. It is in fact a mater of option. Let us all try to be fair and say that when we have a bad option of some one we say it is our belief or option that this person is a liar or a crook not that they are such. Let's be clear from the start: Mr. Belafonte's statement got media coverage because the neocons are looking for any reason to bash anyone left of center, particularly those from Hollywood. (Dixie Chicks, George Clooney, Michael Moore, Mike Farrell, Whoopi Goldberg, are some they just love to smear). What they say carries no, or very little, weight in Washington. Elected and appointed politicians and media do have influence, and to say that no one calls them on it is also wrong. You just need to check mediamatters.org and factcheck.org. The overwhelming culprit on distorting and inventing statements, then attribute them to others are republicans, particularly Foxnews, of which I monitor sex-harasser O'Reilly who makes up things as he goes along, and Hannity who has no qualms about lying right to guests face. As far as the president being a war criminal, that is a fact. It is also a fact that only losers ever get prosecuted for war crimes. Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are proven liars. In Rumsfeld's case you just need to refer back to his recent confrontation with Ray McGovern to see proof of Rumsfeld lying, Bush with his spying without warrants, and Cheney's lies as proven on Meet the Press. There are many, many more. Too many to list here. I suggest you read Vanity Fair and media matters Bush's preemptive war is defined as a war crime because: " . . . then-Secretary of State Daniel Webster argued that the use of force in self-defense is justified when the need for action is "instant, overwhelming, and leaving no choice of means, and no moment for deliberation." Webster's criteria subsequently became the standard in international law." Deposing Saddam, by all proof having come out recently, was an attack on a sovereign country, who had no weapons to attack us with, nor any delivery system if they did have such weapons. - "The U.N. Charter is binding law in the United States. Under Article 6, clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution, treaties-of which the U.N. Charter is one-are considered the supreme law of the land. Article 103 of the U.N. Charter makes clear that the charter supercedes all other conflicting treaties. It says: "In the event of conflict between the obligations of the Members of the United Nations under the present Charter and their obligations under any other international agreement, their obligations under the present Charter shall prevail."

4/17/06 I have the following question. You mentioned Harry Belafonte being chastised by the right for his comments. Well guess what I agree with the right. Mr. Belafonte said that America was and is killing 10s of thousands of Iraqis a day and has been doing it since the start of the war. To make it simple I will low ball that number and put it as 20,000 people a day. That would be 20,000 X 365=7,300,000 X 3 years = 21,900,000. This number does not include any Iraqis killed be the so called insurgents. If my guess is right the number of people that Mr. Belafonte says we have killed is close to or even exceeds the total population of the country. My question is, Is there anyone left? Are we importing people into the country so we can sustain this rate? The reason a large number of news people , left and right, don't like these people making these kinds of comments is they that make them and some except their word as truth without question when they just might not know what they are talking about. You cite no reference to your statement, so I assume it is either: "After 9-11, ''We decided that Osama bin Laden was the terrorist”; now terror rains down from an individual who may have usurped the presidency. “It’s dubious how he got there,” said Belafonte, and he “seizes upon the fear and rage [and vulnerability] of a nation which had just been assaulted. … He lied to the people of this nation, distorted the truth, declared war on a nation who had not attacked us … put America’s sons and daughters in harm’s way … and destroyed the lives of tens of thousands of [Iraqi] women and children who had nothing to do with it. It was an act of terror. Those who commit acts of terror are usually defined as terrorists.'' or [He refers to 9/11] Note "in other places". whatever that means We neither endorse nor condemn Harry Belafonte's comments. He certainly is entitled to his opinion and to expect 'the left' to monitor everything anyone says is ludicrous. Should republicans monitor everything that comes from O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, etc. ?
4/13/06 This is the dumbest website I have ever encountered. I'm sure you probably worship Al Franken and Michael Moore, and how can I can forget Al Gore . They are one step above bafoon. The beautiful thing about America is idiots like this website, and your leaders above are allowed to spread your garbage. The problem with your arguments is there is no substance. 4/7/06 I think you should study the world economy some if you think that Japan and Germany's economies are stronger. After all, you think that the Clinton years were so grand, yet unemployment is lower today then it ever was under Bill Clinton, not to mention that I had to pay taxes every April under Clinton, now I get a check back every April under Bush. I am obviously a rich Republican making a whopping $ 33,000 a year. I would also like to know your feelings on one of your most "influential Americans" wives, Hilary? How do you feel about her invoking the name of "JESUS" when she wants support on her side of illegal immigration, yet I don't hear a peep about "JESUS" while she supports partial birth abortion, or any abortion for that matter. 4/5/06 If you are ready for the adventure of a lifetime, TRY THIS: Enter Mexico illegally. Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense. Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care for you and your entire family. Demand bilingual nurses and doctors. Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc. Procreate abundantly. Deflect any criticism of this allegedly irresponsible reproductive behavior with, "It is a cultural U.S.A. thing. You would not understand, pal." Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop, or proudly display it in your front window or on your car bumper. Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your children do likewise. Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system. Demand a local Mexican driver license. This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your unauthorized, illegal, presence in Mexico Drive around with no liability insurance and ignore local traffic laws. Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its officers. Good luck! You'll be demanding for the rest of time or soon be dead. Because it will never happen. Where do you get off saying we are not at war. It was declared by congress when the vote was taken. Remember John Kerry? I voted for it before I voted against it? It doesn’t require the president to stand up on CBS and announce “ I hereby declare war on _____________ ( insert country) as of ________________( insert date).” To declare war. No terror attacks on the US from 1993 to 2001? B.S. What about the first World trade center bombing? Remember that? Clinton’s little group arrested a few people and put them in jail and they learned about a guy named Osama Bin Ladin that was involved. Instead of rounding up all of the conspirators from around the globe, Clinton sat on his hands and did nothing. In Somalia, when the US peace keepers were attacked, BLACKHAWK DOWN, it turned out that Osama had a big part in planning the ambush. Again, Clinton did nothing about it. 3/3/06 Did you know that a study has found that Fox new has more "Liberal" paid guest commentators than any other news station? Probably something you heard on Fox, but what does it mean? Nothing. My back yard harbors more ants than Seaworld does giraffes. The question you shoud ask is how many more liberals appear on Fox compared to conservatives - also on Fox. (about 67% conservatives, 33% liberals and moderates).
3/3/06 What do you think of the Geography teacher who spent, I believe it was 20 minutes in one class period and this was something he evidently does on a regular basis, class time on politics? I think he should be punished in some form and warned that if he continues to use class time to promote his personal political beliefs he will be fired. Now I know that we all have freedom of speech and I applaud anyone who has strong opinions and or complaints about our government and voices them. In some classes these debates are even required. History and Political Science classes are two subjects which not only should but must include such debate. Math, Geography, Science, English and a number of other subjects however are no place for such discussions. This should be applied to all political positions equally. I say this not only because teachers are in a position of power over students but also each class has it's own subject mater which the student needs to learn and on which he will be tested. It is unfair to take valuable class time away from teaching the subject at hand. The class subject is what the teacher is in class to teach and what the student is there to learn. 2/25/06 I, until recently, have been a life long, died in the wool, registered democrat .I am 58 years old and have voted the straight line democratic ticket up until and including Clinton's first term in office. I am sorry to say that since the far left hate faction has taken over my democrtic party, I have been forced into taking my vote away from YOUR hate party, and to do your hate party more damage, vote straight party republican. Moderate party members, take back my party! I want to vote for my democratic party once again! I do not care much for Bush, but I will continue to support him until you take the hate out of YOUR party line politics. You mention 'hate' five times without saying anything about who is hating whom or what. Most Democrats don't hate anybody, but they do hate what Bush has done to this country. Saddam was not a threat to us, but Bush allocated resources - people and money - to destroy another country, destroy our respect in the world. We have so many needs in this country - health care, prescription drugs, etc. That could have been helped by the almost $400B squandered to build a theocracy in the Middle East. 1/26/06 i get tired of hearing how the presidents spend money. does anyone know the congress approves all spending? how many balanced national budjets have there been since 1900. does anyone know that? what kind of spying went on during other national threats? does anyone know that? why can't we expect more interviews on tv with people who are intelligent and open minded. no profit or high veiwing ratings in that. i suppose this message is a waist of time Spending bills normally originate in the House, move through the Senate where they may be changed. Any changes need to be resolved within the two chambers, but it is the President who approves or vetoes the bills. Bush has yet to veto a single piece of legislation. Contrary to what most people hear, or are told, no one is against any and all spying necessary, but needs to be approved by a court as required by the Constitution, just like any other wiretap. If you watch some of the weekly interviews, like (NBC) Meet the Press, (CBS) Face the Nation and (ABC) This Week, you will get some decent discourse as guests are allowed to voice their opinion, as opposed to some of the cable channels where any guest, whose opinion is not that of the host, will get shouted down or has his mike cut off. Fox is the worst offender with Hannity, O'Reilly, Cavuto, Kasich the worst offenders, in that order.

I have lived on three continents in my life, speak two languages, so I have been exposed to other cultures, ideas, etc. What I love most is the fact that you take your time to develop and run this site. 1/11/06 If this is a joke, you don’t have much innovation or humor or wit in the diatribes. If you are serious, your malicious terms and tones and degree of anger is very disturbing. When less negative language is used toward you or certain minorities, left leaning politicos, and social fringe groups, you call it Hate Speech. How can us in the middle of you left and right radical extremes take anything either of you say seriously or have a serious discussion about problems or solutions. Both extremes only attack and destroy. You never have any useful suggestions or ideas. Why should we take any of you seriously. Sounds like all you want is your own way and everyone to agree with you and if anyone does not then you attack with the same tired clichés. At least come up with something more than just an electronically delivered character assault and battery. Yes, we call it hate speech. Just turn on O'Reilly, Hannity, Cavuto, Gibson, Kasich. That is all you get from those. The hate started with Nixon when Democrats were responsible for uncovering presidential criminality. It went into the Carter administration then subsided during the Reagan and Bush I administrations, until it re-arose with a vengeance with President Clinton in the White House, until the cabal succeeded in impeaching him on a strictly partisan vote, even though they always knew they could not muster a conviction in the Senate. I see no way that this animosity will end at any time soon, until the lies, misinformation and hateful remarks, especially from Fox come to an end.

My note of 4-17 about Harry Belafounte was not about left or right but simply an example of people who can get media coverage and whom make outrageous statements, which are repeated on the news and the web, without anyone saying the Emperor has no close. By this I mean that People left and right make statements that are wrong misleading or out right lies with few or no one calling them on it. I saw film of Mr. Belafounte making that statement 0n TV at least 3 times and I listen very carefully to what people say and how they say it. His statement was a declarative sentence which made no sense. It is the same as people saying that: The President is a war criminal. That is presented as a statement of fact. It is in fact a mater of option. Let us all try to be fair and say that when we have a bad option of some one we say it is our belief or option that this person is a liar or a crook not that they are such.

Let's be clear from the start: Mr. Belafonte's statement got media coverage because the neocons are looking for any reason to bash anyone left of center, particularly those from Hollywood. (Dixie Chicks, George Clooney, Michael Moore, Mike Farrell, Whoopi Goldberg, are some they just love to smear). What they say carries no, or very little, weight in Washington. Elected and appointed politicians and media do have influence, and to say that no one calls them on it is also wrong. You just need to check mediamatters.org and factcheck.org. The overwhelming culprit on distorting and inventing statements, then attribute them to others are republicans, particularly Foxnews, of which I monitor sex-harasser O'Reilly who makes up things as he goes along, and Hannity who has no qualms about lying right to guests face.
As far as the president being a war criminal, that is a fact. It is also a fact that only losers ever get prosecuted for war crimes. Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are proven liars. In Rumsfeld's case you just need to refer back to his recent confrontation with Ray McGovern to see proof of Rumsfeld lying, Bush with his spying without warrants, and Cheney's lies as proven on Meet the Press. There are many, many more. Too many to list here.

I have the following question. You mentioned Harry Belafonte being chastised by the right for his comments. Well guess what I agree with the right. Mr. Belafonte said that America was and is killing 10s of thousands of Iraqis a day and has been doing it since the start of the war. To make it simple I will low ball that number and put it as 20,000 people a day. That would be 20,000 X 365=7,300,000 X 3 years = 21,900,000. This number does not include any Iraqis killed be the so called insurgents. If my guess is right the number of people that Mr. Belafonte says we have killed is close to or even exceeds the total population of the country. My question is, Is there anyone left? Are we importing people into the country so we can sustain this rate? The reason a large number of news people , left and right, don't like these people making these kinds of comments is they that make them and some except their word as truth without question when they just might not know what they are talking about.

I think you should study the world economy some if you think that Japan and Germany's economies are stronger. After all, you think that the Clinton years were so grand, yet unemployment is lower today then it ever was under Bill Clinton, not to mention that I had to pay taxes every April under Clinton, now I get a check back every April under Bush. I am obviously a rich Republican making a whopping $ 33,000 a year.

I would also like to know your feelings on one of your most "influential Americans" wives, Hilary? How do you feel about her invoking the name of "JESUS" when she wants support on her side of illegal immigration, yet I don't hear a peep about "JESUS" while she supports partial birth abortion, or any abortion for that matter. Where do you get off saying we are not at war. It was declared by congress when the vote was taken. Remember John Kerry? I voted for it before I voted against it? What do you think of the Geography teacher who spent, I believe it was 20 minutes in one class period and this was something he evidently does on a regular basis, class time on politics?
I think he should be punished in some form and warned that if he continues to use class time to promote his personal political beliefs he will be fired. Now I know that we all have freedom of speech and I applaud anyone who has strong opinions and or complaints about our government and voices them. In some classes these debates are even required. History and Political Science classes are two subjects which not only should but must include such debate. Math, Geography, Science, English and a number of other subjects however are no place for such discussions. This should be applied to all political positions equally. I say this not only because teachers are in a position of power over students but also each class has it's own subject mater which the student needs to learn and on which he will be tested. It is unfair to take valuable class time away from teaching the subject at hand. The class subject is what the teacher is in class to teach and what the student is there to learn. He has a responsibility to the public and the students to teach what he is there to teach.

I, until recently, have been a life long, died in the wool, registered democrat .I am 58 years old
and have voted the straight line democratic ticket up until and including Clinton's first term in office. I am sorry to say that since the far left hate faction has taken over my democrtic party,

Spending bills normally originate in the House, move through the Senate where they may be changed. Any changes need to be resolved within the two chambers, but it is the President who approves or vetoes the bills. Bush has yet to veto a single piece of legislation.
Contrary to what most people hear, or are told, no one is against any and all spying necessary, but needs to be approved by a court as required by the Constitution, just like any other wiretap.
If you watch some of the weekly interviews, like (NBC) Meet the Press, (CBS) Face the Nation and (ABC) This Week, you will get some decent discourse as guests are allowed to voice their opinion, as opposed to some of the cable channels where any guest, whose opinion is not that of the host, will get shouted down or has his mike cut off. Fox is the worst offender with Hannity, O'Reilly, Cavuto, Kasich the worst offenders, in that order.

I loved your site. I am a southerner, conservative, fairly spiritual man. I am also somewhat educated. I have lived on three continents in my life, speak two languages, so I have been exposed to other cultures, ideas, etc.

What I love most is the fact that you take your time to develop and run this site. It is better than jon stewart on comedy central. If this is a joke, you don’t have much innovation or humor or wit in the diatribes. If you are serious, your malicious terms and tones and degree of anger is very disturbing. When less negative language is used toward you or certain minorities, left leaning politicos, and social fringe groups, you call it Hate Speech. How can us in the middle of you left and right radical extremes take anything either of you say seriously or have a serious discussion about problems or solutions. So many relevant omissions & twisting of the facts manifest on a daily basis by many of today's journalists, far more than you claim Fox News make, that your follies would more aptly be named "Frankly Faulty 'Facts.' The NYT reported a fact [according to you - we did not verify anything] but failed to state the reason for RR being rejected for military service. Ok. So what. They lied, or are inaccurate for omitting that? So who did report about his myopia? Did they state what his actual acuity was? No? Maybe they were amiss also. How detailed must reporting be to satisfy the most discrimination of morons?

We are not reporting on what could have been reported in addition to what was reported, we are attempting to report on items that were blatant lies and misstatements. We do not attempt to tell anyone how much more could have and should have been reported.

I have seen better jokes than your website scrawled on truck stop bathroom walls. Your biggest folly is trusting the people to tell you the truth that want/need to slander their perceived enemy. IF YOU EVER BELIEVED that either party is infallible or won’t use the tactics implemented by their opponent to spin things their way when the power shifts , then you are simply naïve or want to be led down one path or the other. Your site would serve the public interest better by balancing the truth against the misconceptions and misperceptions of both parties to expose the true truth and not further perpetuate a one sided agenda of hate mongering and divisiveness that is only serving to continue to split the country over lies/misperceptions/implications that one side or the other chooses to use against the other instead of uniting all citizens to demand truth and accountability of all of our elected officials. I was reading some of the comments on your site, I was quite amused that the right wing hypocrites don't like to face the music or the facts.
By this I mean anything that a neo-con or republican says or does makes them walk on water.
The fact of the matter is that we now have cronies getting people killed here and abroad and the right wing is still trying to paint the picture that its the bleeding heart liberals that are causing all of these problems.

1. Over throw a democratic elected government in CHILE, and then have Kissinger running around blaming rebels for the demise of democracy by calling the elected government a communist mouth piece.

2.Break into a national parties office 1972 (Democrats) then give a pardon to Nixon for breaking the law, then years later get presidential pardons for the republicans that were trying to descredit peace activits, citiznes opposed to a LIAR, and for getting over 25,000 citizens murdered based on the war plans of Eisenhower who strated the process to overthrow a democratic elected governmment
3. Go after American citizens by using the FBI, CIA, IRS, NSA, DIA 1969-1978, 2001 -to the present to spy on its citizens and call everyone in this country either terrorists, unpatriotic for justifications to break the laws of the CONSTITUTION and the Congressional laws passed by the representatives of the PEOPLE, must be replican thing to do

3. Sell arms to a country ( Iran ) and during a speech by the republican hypocrite, Reagan, saying that all of the prisoners have left Iran. And then turn around give this blood money to rebels that are part of the right wing Para-military organization down in Central America and have this blood money to kill NUNS as being CIA operatives, and then have Congressional hearings.Then give PARDONS to the law breakers i.e. North, Poindexter, Weinberger, the same K-street lobbyists performing the present republican operation of deceit and deception, again mustbe republican thing to do and be patrotic and red
